Shogi-L, or the Shogi Discussion List, is an internet shogi community founded by Pieter Stouten for Shogi.net on May 6, 1990. It began as a mailing list, where users would subscribe to have messages e-mailed to them personally every time a message was shared. For many years, this was the primary way English-speaking shogi players communicated, talking about shogi news, asking questions, and discussing pro games. Shogi.net still contains a record of all messages sent in the list, and has archived all games shared, both professional and amateur.
On July 21, 2008, Shogi-L moved from Topica to Google Groups, where it currently resides. While not very active, Shogi-L remains a place to easily contact many shogi players all over the world.
